PSV''s - Whose job is it anyway?

just wanted to inquire about the practices in other plant or facilitiy. who's responsbile for sizing the pressure safety or relief valves? Instrument Engineer (IE) or ME's. In our place its the IE who specify, preapre the data sheet and the job card for calibration. However its the mechanical who calibrate and fix it. We follow the ASME and the API Recommended Practice.

Same thing with the recirc valve. Them IE's spec it out and set up the spares and us ME's fix and overhaul it. Note that we have a separate workshop for instrumentation, electrical and controls. Received on Thu May 31 03:34:00 2001
