In the regular bore 12" gate valve, the actual diameter of the valve will be
smaller than 12 ", and thus there will be a higher pressure drop at full
open condition as compared to a full bore 12" gate valve, where the ID of
the valve is same as the inlet sizing, and there will be very small pressure
drop. Generally used for overhead vapour vent lines (e.g. Recovery of
vapours from a crude storage tank) where even a small pressure drop is
critical.

Hello everybody,
Can anybody tell me the difference between a regular bore 12" gate valve and full bore 12" gate valve.
Thanks,
Narayanan
