  1. Same here. above class 600#, our preference is RTJ with oval type gasket (not the hex). If you want to know the nuts and bolts of Flange design, i recommend "design of process equipment" by kanti k. mahajan - look for chapter 2. the other excellent source is the taylor forge catalog no. 722.
  2. For hydrogen service, the weld neck raised faced is ok but used xs and material conforming to astm a182 gr f11 class 1. our application is limited to 8"NPS with max temp/pressure of 550C/2550 kpa. normally the piping material for hydrogen service is cr-mo. got to take care also of proper welding procedure.
