Hi Forum Members
I am considering converting a U Tube heat exchanger into a thermosiphon boiler, with steam inside the tubes and water on the shell side in a horizontal configuration.
I would like to know how to calculate the pressure drop of the flow, notably the two phased flow coming off the top of the shell enroute to the separating tank/column.
I understand that if the height above the shell is too high, the hydrostatic head will inhibit circulation and hence evaporation. Will there be a problem if this height is really short?
Thanks
