laser to fitup bfw piping?
last time ive use the laser is to check to coupling alignment (double
reverse) of a motor and compressor and verify the rails of the overhead
bridge crane. Level will just be fine to ensure proper piping fitup and
theodolite or transit will be good enough to establish a benchmark. Why
use
laser when the PFI allows u some fabrication and construction tolerance
(as
high as 1D in some cases. The service agreement will normally have a
scope
of work and some acceptance criteria speeled out that should be the basis
for a claim. If your off the criteria, then contractor has an obligation
to
correct the deficiency.
The laser I was speaking of was a Visible line rotary laser level. The
floors in beef plants are rarely if ever poured level and the buildings
(due to many four or five day additions squeezed in two two days) are
normally out of square so I always like to start with some good bench
marks.
As far as criteria went there was absolutely none.

Engineer No. Its just a title the guy simply worked his way up the

these people have enough experience in the way things are done that they

As far as dumping him I normally deal withe the energy supervisor at the
plant and have little or no contact with him. Also I have the Engineers
at corporate on my side nine times out of ten. I do however like to tell
the story to help illustrate how screwed up some things can be.

Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in the gray twilight that knows not victory nor defeat.
