edms or any microstation will do BOM consolidation but these are
enterprise type software (heavyweight). If im doing a capital type
project i will normally used the software develop by Richardson to
perform a detailed material cost estimate and a LCC evaluation.
Richardson has a built in-cost for pipe and fittings including
manhours and contingencies. nice reporting format too. But if you are
after consolidating the material take-off only and manhour and cost
is not of concern then MS Access would be a better choice. A lot
easier to program and do a queries.
