Great comments on the current state of the piping world! However, yes, you may indeed have been underpaid "all these years" - current contract
(job-shop) rates for experienced designers with 3D are around $40 per hour.
Try ceweekly.com or monster.com(search on "piping" or "pds") for an idea of jobs and rates. I've "piped" my way around the planet for the last 20 years, and the only real differences are the language, surroundings and length of the lunch hour!

With all the power work out there, do you know of any sites with a simplified overview of the power world - maybe some simple flowcharts showing the differences between cogen and combined cycle plants, and the HRSG layouts?
