the acceptable nozzle loading for the pump is dictated by API 610. The API requires that the piping layout should not cause excessive shaft mislaignment ot distortion of the casing. Translation - ensure that the calculated pipe stress is less than the API610 allowable. Current industry practice is to limit the casing distortion to .002".

         The key to API 610 is to ensure that the resultant force and moment (applied) satifsy the interaction formula by a factor not exceeding 2.

         Please observe also that the equation for the load allowables is based on the pump weight and flange size.
