High temperature Piping in Refineries

Hi All,
I would like to know expereinces from the experts of our group about high temperature Piping, particularly involved in Hydro based treaters like Hydrocarcker, Diesel Hydro Treaters, Catalytic Reforming Units and FCC of an Oil Refinery. I have seen people face lot of problems for this high temperature piping (from 250 Deg.C and above), particularly around rotating machinery. Quite a few times it is observed that even Pump suction lines are provided with many loops to take care of flexibility. This is not good for equipment performance..what machinery experts say. Ofcourse plants are running.
Please share your expereinces and help in enrich the knowledge of other members.
