Hammer used to make line blinds (spectacle, if I recall correctly)
with three bolts equally spread around the circumference of the
flange. The advantage was that only one bolt had to be removed to
swing the assembly. Obviously, this product was only suitable for
specific applications.
Maybe others remember this, I can't seem to find a web reference at the moment.
