Boiler Superheater Tubes

Recently we brought down one (out of 4) of our boiler. T&I revealed a sheared superheater (inverted loop) Cr-Mo tube inside the fire box. We were able to plug the leaker. The superheater is convective type and commissioned in 1985.

What kind of test can be performed to determine or predict the remaining superhetaer life. We went back to the manufacturer and says superheater normally last 15 years.

Appreciate any input as to the downtime period (for repalcement), type of test, tube life, problem faced during repalcement etc - before condeming the tube and plan its repalcement (all four), If its Off-topic, please ignore. Received on Wed Oct 03 03:46:00 2001
