If you're talking about material specifications, ASME material
specifications and based on ASTM material specifications with particular
adaptations for pressure vessel and piping use. The ASME Code may not
allow particular grades of material covered in the ASTM version. Some
ASTM specifications aren't applicable to pressure vesel or piping at all.
Do not assume that ASTM and ASME specifications are interchangeable for
pressure vessel or piping work. Above all, do not assume that the
existence of an ASTM specification for a particular material makes that
material permissible for pressure systems.
Of course, if you're _not_ talking about material spacifications, you might want to explain in a little more detail what you are talking about.
