You cannot deform anything if, as I previously stated, you design for this fig8 initially.
That is why simply inserting a wedge between the two flanges will allow adequate space.
Ralph spoke about using come-alongs on stiff piping (eg.between reboiler and vessel)
I think one needs to realise that if this is the case, by how much are you overstressing the line when the system reaches operating temperature ? Regards
