Will ERP affect Piping Designers/Engineers Life in the future ?

Hello ,

         I am trying to understand how ERP softwares like SAP are going to affect the future of Plant Design Information Management namely Engineering , Procurement and Site Management.Since Piping's contribution to plant data   is substantial , will ERP affect a piping guys life in the future?.I am also interested in knowing which ERP modules tie into Plant Design and Piping. I have read some literature of 3D Plant Design S/w sellers they talk more and more about integrating it with SAP...... anybody with experience in this ?.
