It appears to be clear that in a surge related condition Cast Iron (or Nodular Cast Iron) would not be a good choice of material. Most of the fuels related projects use either steel or stainless steel. Question: Is there other reasons that cast iron or nodular cast iron is not useable in petroluem service or distribution conditions. Beacause it is pourous does this affect its use. Would appreciate more information.
