Rough calculations based on ASME SEC VIII UG28 your pipe can with stand only
about 6.7Psi external pressure. Provide two stiffener rings on equal interval.

Hello Forum Members
We've just installed low pressure vapour pipes and there is a concern over
its strength to withstand the vacuum.
The pipe diameter is 780mm. Length 15 meters. SS304 5.5 mm thick.
Pressure is normally at 250 mbara, but could drop to 100 mbara in cases of
valve failure.
I'd like to know if it could withstand full vacuum.
Any one out there that could kindly advise (without liability off-course) on the need to stiffen the pipe.
