Hi, Pete:
It consists of a chlorinator, some liquid ch2 cylinders, and relevant piping and control system. The function of this system is to protect seawater piping lines from sealife block, and the residual cl at the equipment depends on the equipment type and the material, for example, for Ti-tube Steam Surface Condenser, it should be less than 10 ppm.
Again, for the situation mentioned by Steve, the most important thing would happen at intaking side. We cannot add any cl2 or something else prior to the first filtering net, can we? As per my experience at that area, various seasonal sea life may arrive the intaking side occasionally, and what and when will vary from place to place.
Best Regards,
Samuel

Samuel,
I am mostly just a reader of this group. Your reply was very interesting but
I am wondering what is the gas C12 injection system for ? If you could
elaborate a little I would appreciate it. I learn quite a bit from this
group. Thanks
Pete
