Hi there
I doing a bit of detail design for a small hydro power station.
The station is below water level, as it is a run of river type.
Extra care needs to be taken to minimise the chance of flooding.
There are a number of pipes passing through the station walls and
into the station. The pipes are connected to the water feed race and
tail race. If the valve body or spindle fails it could flood the
station
I intend putting valves inside the station immediately where they
come through the walls. The largest valve is 200NB (8"), and the
smallest 32NB. The head is not high, around 10m. While butterfly
valves would probably do for the larger valves, and ball valves for
the smaller, I have the nagging feeling that I should be using
something a bit stronger, possibly metal seated gate valves. not a
super high spec valve, just something a bit better than rubber seated
butterfly valves and teflon seated ball valves.
Has anyone any suggestions/experience?
Supplier/make/model details would be useful.
Thanks
