Dear Mahavir!
NB of in inches or mm?please clarify.
For eg: 4" pipe - allowable forces and
moments for anchors on structures.
Allowable forces: 4" * 150 =600 kg
Allowable moments :4" * 75 =300 kg-m.
allowable forces and moments are seems to
be low.
Please advice me,if i am wrong.
take care

Hello Tushar,
Since many guides/standards cover allowable anchor forces and moments on nozzles, I guess that your question relates to anchor forces and moments on structural members, and in particular at battery limits between two contractors.
A thumb rule that has usually been followed in our part of the world is:
FR in kg not greater than 150 times NB of pipe in inches MR in kg-m not greater than 75 times NB of pipe in inches.
Cheers,
Mahavir

Subject: [PipingDesign] Anchor Forces & Moments
Friends,
In one of our projects, Anchor forces & moments is the cause of arguments &
discussions of the experts.
How do we check that the anchor forces & moments are with in the allowable limits? I mean the anchor itself does not fail.
Is there any formula to check the strength of the anchor? In this case
how
to
calculate the allowable value for (Fx, Fy, Fz & Mx, My, Mz).
Thanks & regards.
