In-situ repairing is done by using "Shrink Sleeves" which are manufactured by parties like Raychem ... etc.

Coated Pipe
After WWII, the best available corrosion control coating for piping
was coal tar enamel. Today two premium (top-of-the-lne) coating
system dominate the market - multiplayer FBE and 3 layer polyolefin
coating.
For buried piping, will the above type of coating has any effect in
the performance of CP (use in conjuction of .our spec has use the
term "as an engineered part of CP systems").
Which of the 2 is the best of the best
How do we repair the coating at the field (normally factory applied)
if its possible.
