BS 5331 and BS 5167 cover firesafe ball valves.
The size of the reduced bore is basically derived from the manufacturer. Use
the valve losses to determine if you can accomodate these. The reduced bore is
derived from the valve design where the aim is to keep the body small and thus
reduce costs.
