Trunnion on an Elbow

Dear members,

Whether welding a trunnion on an elbow & using it as a support is accepted practice universally ? Infact, I have used it numerous times in many projects.

But I am met with a stiff resistance for one of our on-going projects. Result is, supporting becomes tedious.

Request all put in their views & any bad experiences of resulting failures ...
