STeve,
Attached is a Mathcad file from the Hicks Electronic handbook on Mechanical Engineering Design. The book is realtively inexpensive being paperback available from any University bookshop. I had trouble printing it to a PDF so couldnt send it that way. let me know if you dont have Mathcad and I'll try and get it to you some other way. Let me know your fax number.
Apologies for the Imperial units.

I think you may have got it a bit wrong. As far as I can see, Paul wants us
to send him our empty beer cans. 2000 of them. I have emptied 20, but am
getting a bit of a headache. I'll try to finish them off tomorrow.
According to my reading, the internet is a good place to lose money, unless
you start a porn site. It could be used to subsidise a piping site.
I have wondered about online calculators with a charge per shot, but
validation would be difficult, and liability would then raise its ugly
head.
Possibly compiling communications on a particular topic and charging for a
download, but the perennial problem of knowing in advance exactly what you
are getting, still exists.

Another off topic question:

I have to check out some belt conveyor head drum shafts. The drums are
clamped to the shafts with compression type couplings, similar to taperlock
hubs, but far stronger.
The compression induces a stress concentration in the shaft similar to that
caused by a shrink fit. I am after the formulae for calculating the
torsional and bending stress concentration factors. Does anyone have them,
or can anyone refer me to a website or book?

Cheers

Steve McKenzie
If you asked members to pay USD 25 per annum and only 50% of memebers left
because of it was no longer free, would you have enough then? How much do
you
need? I presume that you have got over dreams of being the next Bill Gates
your age.
OK, guys,

Some of you know that I'm running this website on a shoestring.

It seems to lurch forward and backwards every now and then, but I'd
like

some stability and potential for growth now.

Who else is willing to step up and support PipingDesign.com?

In one private message from one of the listmembers, it was said,
"surely

people from profitable companies have benefitted from answers provided
here;

couldn't you ask them for a reasonable contribution?".
