Paul
I am so pleased to hear you are enthusiastic about fishing. I too grew up near a fishing village, and maintain an active interest.
Apart from hobby fishing, my work occasionally involves fisheries.
Some years ago I carried out the conceptual design , mechanical
construction supervision and commissioning for a 100TPD brine
freezing plant (lots of pipes) and infrastructure/village for a
skipjack tuna plant. Last year I helped carry out a prefeasibility
for adding a cannery to this plant.
In between times, I went to Vietnam to see what could be done to
improve the lot of the family inshore fisherman. Many international
agencies are funding large offshore fleet developments which are
damaging the subsistence fisherman.
I could tell you about the time I was nearly killed by a 75kg yellowfin but will save for later, as I'm off out to get fish and chips for tea.
Do you have any special flies?
Cheers
Steve McKenzie
