On one job we were inflicted with project management consultants on a large
dairy job. You know the type. The most capable but unfortunately the most
disagreeable of them was called Donald Hunt. Once, in a moment of extreme
exasperation I said confidentially to one of my colleagues that his first
name should be Mike. Equally unfortunately it stuck. One day, I asked my
enthusiastic new junior to locate Mr Hunt using the Gaitronics site wide
(very)loudspeaker system.
I dont think you need to know any more.......
Cheers

As an apprentice I was sent to the store to get a tray full of spirit level
bubbles as the pipe fitters had lost theirs. It must have been a ritual as
the
storeman produce a tray coated in oil with a few blobs of water on it.
Looked
just like a tray full of bubbles to a spotty fifteen year old. I can still
here the laughter. It taught me some humility I can tell you.
As someone said we should give the world control to fifteen year olds whilst
they still know everything.

What about the waterhammer? The first time when I
entered a chemical plant I was 15 and an apprentice
student. One day the guys in the control room sent me
to the maintenance shop to bring the waterhammer. Sure
enough, I go there and ask the mechanics to give me
the waterhammer for my fellas in the control room. One
guy give me a freaking plastic toy, hammer like
looking; I take it, look at it and obviously ask what
is that useful for. "To kick your dumb head with it,
my friend" he said, and everyone starts laughing like
hell. Hope you guys enjoy. See ya.
