This is regarding Ralph's reply to Steve's question:

Ralph is coming from a management position (and Ralph seems to be much more in the know than most, and also deals with a large facility/budget) whereas Steve seems to be a smaller consultant that has had some experience with ISO. ISO certification is a big boys' game and doesn't work so well at smaller scales.

Being ISO 900X (or now, ISO 200X) compliant depends upon having the resources to do more paperwork. Does the organization offer international government grants for certification or is this pseudo-governmental organization pushing lawmakers/public opinion?

Fundamentally, the concept is valid, but many people who have been "doing it right" for decades are looking at ISO with a dim eye.

From a personal point of view, many of the requirements of ISO simply cannot be met during design and testing. Maybe I'm wrong, but I assume that original design is something that nobody else has done before.

You asked for controversy...
