Subject: Re: [PipingDesign] Condensate line rehabilitation
Steve,
I havent done it but there is no reason one couldnt. Certain grades of
polypropylene would be suitable for these temperatures as would PVDF. The
latter however is very costly. Contact Eurapipe in Australia or go through
your
local Tyco office.

I am looking at a small steam energy centre which sells steam to
users around 1 - 2 km away. One of the users about 1 km away has the
potential to return around 50% of the condensed steam, which would
significantly reduce boiler makeup by around 200TPD. Trouble is the
condensate return line is corroded and not really serviceable. It is
100NB which seems rather oversized. To dig out and replace would be
very expensive, so I was thinking about shoving a smaller flexible
line up the existing one. The condensate is atmospheric so it will be
around 85 - 90 deg C. I suppose i could cool the condensate, but it
seems wasteful.
I was wondering if any users have done something similar and if so
what pipe material they used, how they went about it and if it worked
OK.
