Hi,

Exemption pressure for 304/316SS is 200 psig. i.e. beyond this pressure pipe is subjected to velocity limitations.
IGC - Industrial Gases Council has a publication on Oxygen Pipeline transportation Systems

Suri

Does anybody know if I can use austenitic stainless steel (W.1.4541) for high pressure oxygen pipe? I know that I can use Copper, but what about stainless steel? The oxygen pressure is 200 bar, at normal temperature (20 grdC). The oxygen is gas, not liquid. There are any oxygen plant which use SS for its high pressure piping systems? There are some special rules (design codes) for oxygen pipe designing?

Thank you in advance,
Dragos
