Chetan,

Thrust blocks are used in the water and wastewater industry on piplines where rubber ring joints are used. Typical materials are ductile iron cement lined, spiraal wound steel cement lined, uPVC, OPVC,MPVC,ABS and fibreglass (HOBAS).

The thrust block is designed to transfer the thrust from pipeline pressure to the soil.

I am sure you can get details of a AWWA standard that would cover this matter.

Many manufacturers and industry associations publish data for design parameters for such blocks.

Can any body say what is thrust block and they are used in piping... (and Pl. give specific piping also where it is used frequently..?)

Thanks
