It depends upon the type of valve. There are different patterns of globe and check valves. Also check valves occassional are fitted with springs and/or counterweights. Valves common to the water industry are a little more straight forward. Globe valve losses could be 20 * F and check valves 50* f where f is the Darcy Weisbach friction factor.

More data is available from Flow Resistance A Design Guide for Engineers by Idelchik or the similar text by Miller.
