The Code gives you allowable stresses. This kind of calculation isn't
covered in the Code, so the methodology for calculating stress is up to
you. Depending on how complicated the design is you can use either manual
methods or FEA. Thermal stress can get very tricky--if it were me I'd use
FEA.
