This is a free third-party add-on for IE5.5+ and I've been using it exclusively for a few months. It offers tabbed browsing, advertising popup suppression, easily-disabled activeX and Flash, integrated Google search, great user support (send in your feature requests) and excellent crash recovery characteristics - always a plus for those who use Windows - that remembers the tabs that were open prior to the inevitable system lockup. Almost 30 different language versions are available.
