WRC 107/ WRC 297 relate to bulletins/ technical report published by
Welding Research Council. These special reports include analysis for
stresses near and arround the joint of nozzle to shell or head. It is
termed as local load/ stress analysis. The loads are forces , moments
acting at the joint and cause stresses which are much more than the
meberane stresses but they are acceptable within 1.5 and 3 times the
tensitle memberane allowable stresses as they are self limited and
are not distributed through out the shell, head of nozzle pip[e wall
thickness. these WRC procedures are well acceptable worldwide ( both
in US and European and Asian countries, and adopted by the concerned
national standards.
FEPipe, WinNozl softwares deal on these reports and provide quick and
easy anlysis of local load stresses.Otherwise one has to do the
manual calculations which are very time consuming. If interested I
may provide you more information, and lead you to get a view of the
WRC Buletins for better understanding.
