GRAI,
Dear Sir,
First of all I would like to mention you of my changed Email ID from <a href="/group/PipingDesign/post?postID=B80ftsAXGgo29V0r2kmEo91Dzwyb6lqSb4ngaWUmNmODo3ehNrdp36z3BJKwBMC4IjrNjSQB4m_zGE9nFlv5Yw">deepaknaik13@yahoo.com</a> to <a href="/group/PipingDesign/post?postID=bncSG7-hKdfGb71sDeAjD72z45uYKI2Z2qlUOiY32rGE0hc3-O1TDy7tnR_idemR3T1Y6zr4Fk0q2aDJchI">deepaknaik@lycos.co.uk</a> I wish to receive all my future correspondence on this new Email ID. I have a lot of queries piled up with me right from 1st vol to 3rd vol. in PIT coures !
But at present I wish to b clarified with only the 3rd Vol., they are here as under in the format of "Sr no"- "nature of query": "question in that regard" : - "Title page/Vol"- "Page No."

  1. - ASME BPV-iii-1-NC (2000 Addenda), ASME BPV-iii-1-NC :how to decode the code ? how these codes different from each other? what does the comment in the brackets signify ?( W 1981 Addenda)-PIP 034/ 3 - 1/2
  2. - Pipe Thickness formula The engineering books gives the similiar formula as yoy have mentioned but without adding design pressure with the 2*sigma in denominator ; how did you derive this formula ? what is a Trunk Pipeline ? why was Schedule 40 (7.92 mm) selected inspite of sch 20 even though the thickness of this (6.35 mm) is more than the design (5.3)
    • PIP 006/3 - 1
  3. - Material Selection : what is the basis here used ? are Hostalen GM 5010
& T2 GM 5010 varities of HDPE ? how does the creep resistance factor varies
with time vis- a- vis period in years ? -PIP 006/3 - 2.
  4. - bursting Pressure formula: how do we use this formula ? -PIP 006/3 -1
  5. - Formulae: The formulae of Weymouth mentioned here & in the Vol 2 are different can you justify this? weymouth formula given here are different for different pipe materials, how come is this? what is this revised Panhandle formula ? What do mean by G in Pandles Equation? - PIP 006/3 -3
  6. - DN 200 schedule 40, What does DN stands for & its origin & significance?
  7. - Tabular Column : The pipe data given refers to which code?- PIP 006 - 5.
  8. - Diff Codes: There are many codes , but how we should decide which code we should follow? what are the yardsticks to decide about them ? Why are there so many codes ?
  9. - Should a Piping Engineer Mug up all the codes ? which codes r important for him ?
  10. How to use the tables given on page 7, 8, 9 & 10 in PIP 006/3: what does GR A & B mean how are they to be decided? what do we mean extra strong
& XX as mentioned in the tables? what do we understand by the suffixes such
as S, W, WPB, OSY, ISNS on page 10 material specs?
  11. What do we understand by End type as mentioned on page 10 PIP 006 / 3 ?What is SML, ERW, EFW, PF, SW, BW, FF, SCR, WF.
  12. I suggest a couple of full proof examples needs to be given to be fully conversant with the formulaes on how to use them & how to select the pipe specs , please do the needful in this regard ?

13.Page 1 in PIP 015/ 3 the detaikls seems to be inadequate, How a high pressure fluid classified so also service with cyclic condition ( & alsonwhat do we uderstand by Cyclic condition? )

  1. Where are A-1 & A-2 tables as mentioned on page 2 of PIP 015 / 3.
  2. are u suggesting to buy the ASME 13.3 series for this ?
  3. What is S suffix L , C , H as mentioned in longitudinal stress? what is longitudinal stress? what do we undewrstand by Displacement stress? what is this alternative Sizing equation & how are they derived? What is the significance of Y, coefficient Table ?
  4. in Resultant Bending stress what do we understand by Inplane & outplane Stress ibntensification factor?
  5. What is significance of R suffix M used in the Reaction force at extreme displacment condition Equation in page 8 in pip-015/3
  6. kindly throw light on Swivel Joints, expansion joints, slip jpoints,
  7. what do we understand by DEAD LEGS & POCKETS, Slippers kneaders s mentioned on page 3& 4 0f PIP 026/ 3

Sir, I suppose you will do the needful at the earliest

Thanking you,
yours sincerely
