There is no single main difference it's all different. First, the allowable stresses have increased by a factor of 4/3.5 for a lot of materials, but not all. The allowable external pressure has changed. If it's anything like Section VIII there are more appendices than there is Code. Section VIII has incorporated a procedure to set allowable minimum temperatures, which may or may not be in the Code. If I remember correctly the section on riveted vessels no longer exists. The proof factors for hydrotesting have changed and there are lots of new materials.
