        I think the advantages exceeded the disadvantages if you do testing for a specific rating(ex. 150#) with only one pressure test rating.

        One disadvantage I saw was you need to make sure that some piping accessories could withstand the test pressure you'll going to apply. I mean, when a certain line that you'll be going to test has a flexible hose or expansion joints, it's better to check first if that accessories can tolerate that pressure, otherwise remove it from the line or you gonna reduce the test pressure as long as it meets the requirement. But basically I can strongly recommend testing a certain rating with uniform pressure test, i.e. to minimize time and money.:-)
Anyway, you can test 150# piping line with 410psig.
