I don't know anything about Macs, but I have had recent first hand experience of my mother buying a PC. Try to talk her out of it, promise to phone more regularly even volunteer to write letters and vist. If that fails move house and go ex-directory...

Unfortunately, my mother has mastered the use of email. Don't give your mother your business email address.

On the bright side, I look forward to your mother's contributions to this list. Her reminiscences of your early experiments with water jet ejectors should be fun reading.

My mum, bless her soul, has decided to get a computer. Her friend teaches other oldies about Apple Macs. So in spite of my initial OS objections (who can win an argument against their mother?) thats what she is gonna get.
I know zip about Macs but maybe some of you do. She will use it for dialup internet, email, photography and, I suspect, screaming at. Oh, and it has to look nice. I guess I will be obliged to vet and recommend.

Any sites that can tell me whats hot and whats not? Tried google but dont know enough about Macs to refine the search to a manageable number of sites.
Any blessings/advice/cautions?

Thanks
