Since already decided, better look at positives. The Apples are good
machines. Office applications are similar to MS Office suite. Some
functionalities are really helpful and easy. Some shortcuts like the ones
for 'Paste' function vary from MS applications. Control P gives command for
'paste' unlike 'print' in other. There is a very simple RDBMS application
easy configurable to your database needs as well. I used Mac OS long back
and things might have changed a lot since then. Let us hope they are far
better now. They used to be good then.
Wishing you & mum pleasant arguments while computing.

Subject: [PipingDesign] Offtopic - Apple Macs
My mum, bless her soul, has decided to get a computer.
Her friend teaches other oldies about Apple Macs. So in spite of my
initial OS objections (who can win an argument against their mother?)
thats what she is gonna get.
I know zip about Macs but maybe some of you do.
She will use it for dialup internet, email, photography and, I
suspect, screaming at. Oh, and it has to look nice.
I guess I will be obliged to vet and recommend.
Any sites that can tell me whats hot and whats not? Tried google but
dont know enough about Macs to refine the search to a manageable
number of sites.
Any blessings/advice/cautions?
Thanks
Steve McKenzie
