Dear Paul,

You are absolutely right. Let me add to that. Most of the people who ask all the questions are Indians (which includes myself) and those of you who answer them are from the west. Many questions are basic. There is also the deficiency in the expression of the question, more than the lack of knowledge of the English language. The answers are very good, thought out, fairly detailed. All of us must be using the info gleaned out of it to some benefit.

We look up to the west for our answers. I shall quote the professor of chemical engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, who also conducts the course in piping engineering. He was making a reference to the books and reference material available at the IIT library. "All of the material in here is written by our god-fathers", the west he meant. Also implying that the material were expensive and that they spend their major portion of their funding on them.

Maybe I should interject here as the list owner.

Most of the people that frequently contribute answers and suggestions on this list also work full-time on their own projects.

I have always hoped that this list would become an exchange of information, but often it seems to be a one-way transfer of knowledge.

When was the last documented time that anyone saved money from the use of this list?

Paul
