The concept wouldn't work as a series (like Junkyard Wars, Monster Garage, etc.). Let's face it, piping design and construction is pretty boring for those not actively involved in it. Although if we could get Cathy Rogers to narrate, that would attract a lot of backyard mechanics and give me a shot at dating her. Glavin, mmhey!

You raise an interesting point about the tiny vs. the huge, but I don't think hydraulic piping would fit in well. On the other hand, drawing an oblique parallels to the way computer chips are constructed would not be out of place (flow and resistance of electrons, and/nand/nor gates, leakage, fluid supply and demand, etc.).
