Re: Piping on TV

Guys:
Think positively! Astronomy/cosmology was definitely a realm for mathematical geeks and theoretical physicists! Then, along came: H.G. Wells, E.E.(Doc) Smith, PhD, and that showboat, Carl Sagan. You think computer programs aren't hot/sexy - go to a "Matrix" movie. And, your basic engineering/tech guy - McGyver on TV.

I think there still is a core/residuum of people, even younger ones, that have an IQ greater than 80, and who would rather see something built rather than tearing down. We may be in the minority, but both the Romans and British showed that a few well trained can overcome undisciplined masses. Besides, as Bill Cosby said, if we want to take over, just shut down the sewer plants for a couple of days. (Speaking of necessary but unglamorous piping jobs!)

Maybe I'm the only person that likes TV documentaries about engineering (as    I mentioned, they do exist, so there must be at least *some* interest out    there), but the target audience is not families of engineers. They already    think you are nerdlike and accept you as you are: underappreciated,    hard-working and pocket-protector-equipped. Thick, geeky eyeglasses are    optional.

Don't worry, all the content will be fast paced enough to snag attention,    but without gratuitous CG effects, flashing widgets and viewer-patronizing    garbage. I assume that you have never seen the documentaries I referred to    earlier - they are very well done and without hype.

What is the story about that disaster? Certainly it's not the Edmund    Fitzgerald.
