May I suggest,

The person who raises the question should also say what answers on the question that he has already found (Including previous postings on this list), so that the person who answers does not have to start from zero.

For a start, have you considered supports with teflon slides?

Dear members,

Thank you in advance for your kind attention.

In the Gas Treating Plant we are working on, we have faced this problem that for Flare lines outside the battery limits, the piping supports have become very huge.
Piping load is big, elevation is high and the supports shall be of pipes. But considering 0.3 friction factor for pipe to pipe, the horizontal load will be so big that will tend to a huge supprt structure.

Is there any reference standard or approved engineering practice to stick to that to consider lower friction factor for pipe to pipe surface contact?

Best regards,

Keivan Mashayekh
