That might be a possibility, but I expect that the eventual producer will want to have a lock on sales to various networks for a fixed period of time. I.E., if it costs X dollars to produce and distribute, giving it away for free on the internet might not be a good idea. Selling low-volume (especially IP) via the internet is still not feasible.

On the other hand, if enough funds could be raised by corporate sponsorship for the original production it may be possible to do what you suggest.

We will see what develops in the next few weeks.
