Depends on what the alloy is and whether you can live with the weld
distortion. It also depends on whether you care is the problem reappears
in another 6 months. Weld repairs are tricky. I've seen more instances
where the repair aggravated the situation as instances where it helped.
Fix it properly: Determine the root cause of the problem and remove that first. Then do a proper repair. Going for cheap is asking for trouble.
