Paul,
Do you use Windows XP with the dual processors. XP is supposed to run faster with the hyper threading technology. I suppose it also depends whether the application has been written to make use of the technology.
Dual processor systems fascinate me, the 'Hardwareguys' website and their book tells me that one can have a cheaper configuration using 2 P IIIs instead of a P IV. Some time ago I wanted to buy a gaming PC for somebody. Did consider this. However I could not find anyone who provided this in India.

Subject: [Man.Distr][PipingDesign] Dual Processors for CAD Use
Here's a recent review from Cadalyst regarding dual processor systems:
<a href="http://www.cadalyst.com/reviews/hardware/1103workstation/">http://www.cadalyst.com/reviews/hardware/1103workstation/</a>
Given today's CPUs, memory capacity and overall speed of general use computers, one has to wonder if a few dozen milliseconds in screen rendering really matters outside of the tweak geeks' measuring instrumentation and the CGI movie-making industry.
I've been running a 2 processor system on Windows for over a year, and everything still seems slow to me.
