Hi Sanjay

I think that the "a" key on your keyboard is malfunctioning.

Dont worry about the odd pot shot. Retaliate.

After all most everyone knows that Canadians are just morose, introspective
Americans with a fondness for dark humour and poor baseball skills. Canadians tend to be cowboys however, and have grown up with taking potshots
at Indians.

I specialise in winding up Aussies, although I seem to get more than I give.

If you think the attitude here is bad, go have a look round a few other forums.

There are some questions begging a rebuke, and in a moment of weakness it is
easy to overreact.

For example, in exaggerated form:

"I am new to this subject and have not got round to reading about it.
Please
send me everything you have on it, including the information you have had to
pay for and spent years learning. I will be ever so grateful"

" We have this thing at work that blew up.Please tell me the cause. I am
not
going to give you the details at my disposal until you have tried unsuccessfully to answer my question".

Your saying presumes the existence of respect. This is in short supply over here, having been largely superseded by pomposity and half baked knowledge.

I had better stop or Paul will start triple moderating me.

Cheers

Steve

Hi Steve,

My apologies to Paul for not knowing his nationality. Maybe I was misled by his talk about H1B visas (which to the best of my knowledge are issued by the USA) while taking pot-shots at Indians.

If not Bhopal, maybe I can now start writing about the "Candu" reactor episode! But I will let that pass. In spite of the aberration I acknowledge Paul for all the fine work that he is doing.

However, what bothers me is the attitude sometimes displayed on this forum. Some self proclaimed gurus trying to denigrate the rest, especially newbies and those not fully aware of netiquette. Whole nations and continents get 'labelled' if one individual falls short of so-called standards and expectations.

In India we say that people with real knowledge & wisdom are most considerate and polite. Those who use their half baked knowledge to whip others are nothing but pompous f*rts.

Best regards

Hi Sanjay

you are on very shaky ground so tread carefully. Paul is Canadian, not American. Kiwis hate being called Aussies and vice versa. US and Canada have
the same sentiment. Perhaps you guys have a similar " arrangement" with a neighbouring country - Pakistan?
Its not serious but we always make a big deal about it.

Cheers

Steve

<<"One thing that bothers me about H1B visas and the like is that "we" are not allowed to go to India to work".

You are mistaken Paul. Americans are and have always been allowed in India. It is a different matter that most left in a huff after creating "Bhopal".

I however fully accept that the forum deserved a response from the originator of the query.
