Re: Circumferential Welding Space on Piping

Satria,
The distance between weld as big as 1D is for small bore pipe only, when we are deal with large dia pipe we use 6 times pipe wall thickness for the distance between welding end to other welding end, it will be sufficient to avoid HAZ over lap.

Regards,
Yan

Dear Guys ;

Do you know what is the minimum space between 2 Circ. weld on Carbon Steel Pipe A 106. The size is 6" SCH 80. As a know the rule of thumb is 1D but as extreme we may chose 1 1/2" at the least as long the HAZ is not overlaping ! Is that right ?

Thanks
