I also agree with Aakash and Jaydeep.

Dear Rajendra,
It would really be nice if you wouldn't indulge in writing the sort of
mail below, especially in this group thoroughly intended for technical
discussions. You may reserve your views to Paul (and anybody else) through
personal mails only.
Besides, your topic is highly sensitive....and I even beg to differ from
your view points. I wouldn't discuss that anyway here.
With best regards,
Jaydeep Naha.

Dear Mr. Paul,
I under-stand that this group is to discuss the matters related to piping
engineering. Not the Indian attitude or Indian political system. I request
that kind of mail attached below should not be floated to entire group or
content is to be filtered.
With best regards,
Akash K. Nashine

Dear Paul,
A Butterfly valve manufacturer had a problem with the Gear Actuator for
sizes above 350 mm NB. I knew a Mechanical Engineer of remarkable
achievements who offered to solve the problem, make a working model
(prototype) for a nominal fee of Rs.15,000/- (That is about US$300) only.
The manufacturer asked for a detailed drawing before he could make a
decision. This is the typical Indian attitude. The Engineer is the least
important person in India. Needless to say that the valve manufacturer is a
non technical person. On the other hand, the Doctor who would be "nowhere"
but for the sofisticated instruments designed and made by engineers, is a
highly respectable guy doing brisk "business" and earning through
"referrals".
You are well aware of the Indian Political system. You can not dismiss a
worker without serving him a charge-sheet and holding a hearing but you can
dismiss the Prime Minister without saying why the dismissal is sought. You
may remember that Atal Bihari Vajpayee's government lost a vote of
confidance in the Parliament by just One vote. And no reason was given for
the "No confidance motion".
I am an Indian and proud of my country and it's heritage. But a group of
about 550 MPs are driving this country down the hill and the brakes have
already blown out. Needless to say that they don't know what they are
doing. The reputation the Indian Standard Mark enjoys is good proof of
this.
You are welcome to come to India to enjoy yourself. Looks good on the
blue print - actually non existant.
Regards,
Rajendra Bajikar.

Damn, there goes all my hopes to own 2 or 3 5-series new BMWs and a
7-figure beach house. I am deathly afraid of being a lowly-regarded
engineering type for the rest of my life and not get glamourous and
rich. Ack, I will have failed!
