I have been there and much worse, I figured out why and who profited or
suffered nothing.
Making noise (aka bitching) is necessary to bring about change. The
solutions are in what I am saying. The starting point is that unless we
value what we do, others wont (and dont) if we dont. That includes each
other.
The unacknowledged (not sought) efforts (constantly to the people who might
effect change) I have made here with misrepresentation have caught hold and
starting to have impact. Where there was no action taken less than 4years
ago (Tolerance / soft touch policy and mentality??!!) there are now 406
violations being attended to, a number of successes and many new
Professional and corporate registrations. Funding has been provided to this
area where there was none before.
Most people sit on the fence or leave. Sweeping these issues aside is just perpetuating the problem. Open discussion is essential.eg People need to know the sacrifices you have had to make. Hopefully it makes everybody less cavalier.

Until further notice, pipingdesign.com/.org/.ca is now shut down. This discussion list, too. Yeah, right.
Look, you can't stop "progress", all you can do is stunt things so that you can better cope with reality. Or you can make noise and change things. Have any of you had to sell personal objects, eat noodles 5 days/week and be 6 months behind in rent and deal with those pressures? I have, but pipingdesign.com and this list is still here.
I made a decision to keep this site going no matter what, and that's what I did. That's not to say that there won't be future problems but I am mentally and psychologically prepared to deal with them, having been through the (hopefully) worst.
Engineers fix things, right? So let's see more solutions and less bitching. Get involved with local politics and down the % of lawyers that tend to become political leaders. Think you can handle it? Maybe not, politics is a bitch, but if nobody proposes changes, nothing will ever get done.
Rant on.
