Paul...
I'm with you... each of us will make decisions to press forward and try to do the best they can, under the circumstances. Getting caught by users, being naive about the evils in the world, and keeping up with "progress" is all part of the learning curve of life.... The way I work it is that I try to secure trust and confidence, one person at a time. Trust and confidence are two way streets..... I try keep my rants short and my smiles long.
I know that all of this takes a while, but your network grows slowly but surely. Along the way, you toss the bad apples and go on to the next one. Ever wonder why those old guys seem so wise and smart? They draw information and help from the confidants they've made over the years......(not to say Steve is old....but I bet his "Friends List" is pretty damn long and impressive) ..... so the old saying of "the more things change....the more the stay the same....." rings so true.
my 1/2 cent..... thanks Paul...of the lists I have joined, this has become my favorite (I tell that to all the girls!)......but seriously, I love hearing from the members spread out all over this small world.....
As the great rock philosophers "Three Dog Night" once said...... "Joy to the World"

Until further notice, pipingdesign.com/.org/.ca is now shut down. This
discussion list, too. Yeah, right.
Look, you can't stop "progress", all you can do is stunt things so that
you can better cope with reality. Or you can make noise and change
things. Have any of you had to sell personal objects, eat noodles 5
days/week and be 6 months behind in rent and deal with those pressures?
I have, but pipingdesign.com and this list is still here.
I made a decision to keep this site going no matter what, and that's
what I did. That's not to say that there won't be future problems but I
am mentally and psychologically prepared to deal with them, having been
through the (hopefully) worst.
Engineers fix things, right? So let's see more solutions and less
bitching. Get involved with local politics and down the % of lawyers
that tend to become political leaders. Think you can handle it? Maybe
not, politics is a bitch, but if nobody proposes changes, nothing will
ever get done.
Rant on.
